The past two weeks have been wandering around 285, eroding the implied volatility. If it weren't for today's surge, and if I hadn't closed the put yesterday based on my intuition, I would have incurred a loss of $12,000 today. Luckily, I closed the put beforehand, so the loss today is minimal. But this is risky, and I do not recommend it. Now, the Large Cap is all in a sideways trend, which is not suitable for a straddle.
